Fixed Tire Gauges

Just reading about the Tiro Gage (tirogage.com) that is fixed permanently to each valve stem and reads tire pressure constantly. Seems to be a great way to maintain proper pressure on the tow vehicle and fiver.
Anyone familiar with this product and if so what is your experince with it?
Thanks.

RE: Open Range

This topic was discussed several weeks ago as I recall. Doing a search using "Open Range" may get them back. We were impressed with our viewing of the Open Range at the dealership. Anxious like you to see what new owners think. RV Consumers group will be reporting on this unit in the fall as it is a 2009 model.

RE: Open Range 5'er vs. Monte Vista

RV Consumer Group will be rating this unit as part of their 2009 report. Looks good and is starting to sound great based on the above comments. Our preview at a dealer in Florida matches comments above.

RE: Dometic Recall - NO LONGER REPLACING COOLING UNIT

Had our shield installed in Texas after reading about the recall on this website. My notification from Dometic arrived about a month ago.

RE: Open Range Owners

Had a response from RV Consumers Group. The Open Range is promoted as a 2009 model so they will test and rate these units in the fall. Hope the folks above will provide additional info when they have more time in their fivers.

RE: Open Range Owners

We visited a dealer south of Ocala, Fla. and we were very impressed. They have changed the mechanics for the slides and looks like they have new composite materials throughout. This has contributed to reduced weight.
Good introductory price. Some smart innovations such a three 25 lb propane tanks rather than two 30 lbers. RV Consumer group has not tested one yet according to their website. Check an earlier thread on this forum from three weeks ago for more info.

RE: How do you store your sewer hose ?

We store two sewer hoses (one short/one long) in two PVC pipes bungeed in the bed of the truck under the hitch. Easy access.

RE: Open Roads RV?

Had a "walk through" of the 337RLS at Campers Inn in Leesburg Fl today. (Great people there by the way) Black Jack's comments are right on although we did not see any problems with the drawers on this particular unit.
This Open Range has 337sgft living space with very light weight and a great price point. Is this the future in fifth wheels? Would love to see what the RV Comsumers Group has to say before making a move. Will they rate it suitable for fulltiming? Six months? of casual use?

RE: backing into a space with the 5th wheel

Three quick tips to go along with other responses:
A trucker once told me to either use my mirrors to back in or glance over my shoulder but never try to do both as you will get "disoriented."
Second, as implied by some responses, always try to back in with the left side of the fiver fully visible and the spotter on the right side. As you watch your wheels in the mirror you can give the steering wheel a little nudge to maintain direction.
Never back up unless you have your spotter in view. A saftey thing.
Finally, you rarely get it right the first time. Don't worry about driving back and forward a few times to get the alignment you need.
Good luck.

RE: Weight/Pin weight request

My hunch is the F150 will not be sufficient to haul this fifth wheel safely. The Glendale RV website quotes Golden Falcon weights back to 2003 only but that may give you an idea. Also, the specs label may still be on the side of the fiver and that can guide you. Finally, may want to call Glendale in Strathroy for info.
Good luck.
